Description
The stylized graceful simplicity of these birds fit the image of the iconic bird in Richard Bach's best selling book Jonathan Livingston Seagull, and helped the Studio get off to a flying start in 1973. Unchanged after more than 40 years, they still have strong appeal. One might say they have become a classic. The wingspan of each of the birds is about 9 inches. The whole array is about 30 inches. They are molded in Pellucida, our proprietary compound of resins that is similar to bisque porcelain, but more durable.
3 wire yokes are included
, so that the birds will move with the slightest breath of air and their relation to each other will constantly change. Also the angle of inclination of each bird can be adjusted to taste by bending the attaching wire, so that it can be made to dive, climb or tilt left or right.
One of the set is SIGNED and the array comes with a CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY.
OVERSEAS CUSTOMERS please note additional duty, fees and taxes may be due on arrival.
We offer these gulls singly, as a double and triple set and larger birds with 16 inch wingspans.
Also we have a Outdoor version of the larger gull, modified to resist rain and direct sunlight. see them in our Ebay store.
See these and other of John's sculptures in our Ebay store.
If you wish to make an even larger display please contact us for pricing.
SOME ASSEMBLY IS REQUIRED
; you have to tie the 3 yokes together with the monofilament line and the top yoke to the point of attachment. We suggest installing the yoke as close as possible to the point of attachment so that it will not interfere visually with the birds. This means that each installation will be different, which is one of the reasons we do not sell this assembled.
Please be aware our listing shows the number of pieces we have in stock. Unless it is stated that we have only a few pieces of what is offered, please assume we will make more as needed.
