The 1930's saw the rise of hand built model race cars, known as spindizzies or tether cars. These were miniature race cars built by hobbyists, powered by model airplane engines. Built to resemble the full-size racers of their day they traveled around banked wooden tracks at speeds approaching 150 miles per hour several. Incredibly detailed and aerodynamic, these miniature race cars were beyond toys; they were pieces of art representative of the best pioneering technology of the era.
Authentic Model’s replica of the Bantam Midget was constructed using original blueprints to replicate the original down to the smallest detail. The model was designed without a working engine, drive train, flywheel, or geared rear end and is for display only.
