    Description

What makes this mola blouse remarkable is that it was made by an American friend of mine who lived in Panama for more than 30 years and worked with the mola artists over that time. She is a recognized expert on mola art. She chose the molas, matched them with quality materials, and then assembled the blouse. Notice the pleats or puffs in the sleeves where they join the shoulders. But what really gives it charm is the molas. They are high quality gorgeous molas.
The molas in this Kuna blouse measure about 10.5" x 15" each.
There is a mola on the front and another on the back. The use of molas in a blouse is the original use of blouses like this are everyday wear for Kuna women. You will see them waiting for buses, walking downtown or working in the markets dressed in their fine blouses. When they are tired of a blouse they will rip the molas out of the blouse and sell them. I have to be quick on my feet to get the blouses intact. Be alert that Kuna women are small so these blouses run small. Most folks buy them for show or as part of a mola collection. If you want to wear one ask me to measure it but do us both a favor.... if the wearer is any more than five feet t it. Think young American teenager and that is about the size.
