Molas are considered one of last of the primitive art forms: a craft passed down from generation to generation. Mola is a Cuna word meaning dress or suit. This MOLA was stitched by the skillful hands of a Kuna Indian living on the San Blas Islands off the coast of the Republic of Panama. Molas are one of a kind pieces of art in textile form made by hand by the Kuna people of San Blas Islands, Panama. You can see on the reverse side of the textile the intricacy of each stitch of the needle. They each feature a wide variety of different figures, symbols, and animals. They originated in Panama, with the women of the Kuna tribe in the San Blas islands. Infrared.
